Choose. Adjust. Save.
Start with an original, sharp photo taken in even lighting. PicMilo accepts JPG, PNG and WebP files up to 20 MB and 30 megapixels. Try the sample to explore the controls before choosing your own photo.
- Choose your photo, then select a common size or the country and document you need. Use Custom for a specific width and height in pixels.
- Drag the photo and adjust the zoom. The head outline and eye line help you position it; they are not automatic facial measurements.
- Choose a maximum file size or enter your own KB limit. Wait until the preview is ready, then save the JPEG. The guide is not included in the file.
Size and file size are different.
Millimetres and inches describe the printed size. Pixels describe the digital image. For example, a 35 × 45 mm photo at 300 DPI is about 413 × 531 pixels. An online application may ask for different pixel dimensions even when its printed-photo size is the same.
PicMilo writes 300 DPI metadata to exported JPEGs. That setting does not restore missing detail or make a blurry original sharp. Keep your original photo, avoid enlarging it excessively, and print at the requested physical size rather than “fit to page”.
A KB limit is a maximum, not an exact target: 100 KB means no more than 100,000 bytes. Compression changes JPEG quality while keeping the selected pixel dimensions. If the requested limit cannot be met, saving is blocked; increase the limit within the recipient’s allowance or choose a permitted smaller size.
Check the exact application route with the issuing authority. Printed photos, online uploads and in-person capture can have different rules. A document preset is a starting point; size alone does not establish acceptance.
Photo requirements by country (English)Keep the right background.
Background removal is available for general sizes and Custom. It replaces the background with white and lets you restore the original. Fine hair, glasses and complex backgrounds may leave imperfect edges, so inspect the preview before saving.
All official-document presets keep the original background and disable removal. Switching from an edited general photo to an official preset restores the original. Some authorities prohibit background editing or require an approved photographer; follow the linked official requirements.
PicMilo does not retouch your face, recognize your identity, or certify compliance. The outline is a positioning aid, not a passport approval check.
If something does not look right.
A soft or blocky result usually needs a sharper original, less enlargement or a higher permitted KB limit. Increasing pixel dimensions alone cannot recover detail.
The first background-removal use downloads the processing model. Its speed depends on your device and connection. Keep the page open while it works; you can cancel or restore the original.
If a file will not open, check its format and size. Convert HEIC or other unsupported formats to JPG, PNG or WebP first. Changing the interface language keeps your current photo and settings; it does not select a different country.
Downloaded photos remain on your device. Choosing another photo or closing the tab ends the current editing session, so keep your original and save the result before leaving.
